AKRON, Ohio (October 10, 2011) –On Saturday, October 29, 2011 The Masque of the Red Death, a Halloween party like no other, will return to the Akron Civic Theatre on Saturday, October 29, 2011. The macabre masquerade party, hosted by the Akron Civic Theatre and Evant Inc, is a unique Halloween celebration for adults based loosely on Edgar Allan Poes tale of decadence and devastation.
The dynamic event debuted last year with a stunning turnout of bold, beautiful, fanciful and fantastically costumed attendees. Attendees will experience delicious food, drinks and dancing paired with paranormal, psychic and astrological readings from DJ Ownbey (Love Psychic), Teena Angellique and Shirley Workman (Tarot Cards and Palmistry), Rita Risser (Mayan Astrologist), Rev. Liz Madsen (Pet Psychic) and Nikki Rettman (Henna Tatoo Artist), macabre portraiture by Andrew McAllistar, spontaneous arts performances and the live music provided by Cult of the Psychic Fetus.
In the story, Poe tells of a country ravaged by a hideous plague, the Red Death. Undaunted by this pestilence, Prince Prospero (played by Allan Fee of Q104) called to his castle those of the upper caste to wait out the plague behind lofty walls and locked gates. After a few months of seclusion, the Prince held an opulent masked ball for his friends. On the cusp of midnight, an uninvited guest arrives at the party... the Red Death itself. To add intrigue to the night, a game may be played by the revelers who wish to “unmask” death. Details of the event and instructions for the game will be unveiled on the party website at www.reddeathparty.com.
Guests may attend the party from 9:00pm to 1:00am for $50. The $50 ticket includes admission, food, beer, wine and signature beverages and access to paranormal readings. A VIP option is available which includes valet parking, a portrait picture, an exclusive pre-party with paranormal readings, open bar and express drink service for $100.00. You must be 21 to enter. Tickets are available at the Akron Civic Theatre Box Office (330) 253-2488 or online at www.reddeathparty.com.
